History of SKP
“The Shri Khanderai Pratishthan Education Society,” often referred to as SKP, was established by the honorable Shri Ganpatrao Mhatuji Balwadkar, a visionary social entrepreneur, on June 20, 1988. The inception of this institution can be traced back to the noble intent of providing educational opportunities, particularly to the girls of the former Balewadi village, who had been deprived of elementary education in previous years. It was named in reverence to God Khandoba of Jejuri.
In 1988, Balewadi was a rural village, devoid of secondary and higher secondary educational facilities. At that time, only primary education, spanning from the 1st to the 7th grade, was available. Secondary education, covering the 8th to the 10th grade, was conspicuously absent. Due to the lack of secondary education options and the absence of reliable transportation, parents were often hesitant to send their daughters to distant villages for education.

In response to these challenging circumstances, the institute made a groundbreaking decision in 1989 to start a secondary school. The institute secured the necessary permissions and initiated education for students from the 8th to the 10th grade within the personal residence of its founder, Ganpatrao Balwadkar, located in Balewadi. Thanks to the institution’s commitment to delivering quality education, numerous students from Balewadi and the surrounding villages, including Baner, Mahalunge, Sus, Wakad, Pashan, and others, completed their secondary education within its walls.
In 1997, Balewadi village was incorporated into the Pune Municipal Corporation, sparking rapid development. With a burgeoning population, many individuals from neighboring areas began relocating to Balewadi. Recognizing the evolving educational landscape, the institute introduced an English medium school. The advent of government policies related to the IT field transformed education considerably, leading to a growing demand for higher education facilities.
This expansion was a natural progression for the institute, driven by its relentless commitment to exploring new horizons in education. Today, SKP has become the most sought-after educational hub in the region, distinguished by its commitment to excellent academic growth and specific teaching methodologies. The trust oversees a total of nine educational institutes, offering education from Pre-Primary to Higher Education, with the goal of making each one a “Center of Excellence.” Furthermore, the trust operates three educational colleges focusing on DT.Ed, B.Ed, and Management and Research. SKP’s English Medium School has achieved remarkable success since its inception.
